THE APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION, AUDITION, PORTFOLIO
The application must be completed and submitted through the online application system. Please answer all questions. Students will not be considered for admission until all application materials have been submitted.
THE AUDITION/PORTFOLIO REVIEW AND INTERVIEW
Applicants must contact the arts division(s) to schedule an audition/portfolio review and interview. Once conditions allow, auditions will be held on campus and at selected sites in Florida and the United States throughout the year. Specific instructions for audition/portfolio review and interview are included with the application information.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
Submit a short essay with the application. The Statement should be a brief essay outlining the applicant's educational and professional goals.
LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION
Two letters of recommendation should be submitted from recent instructors or counselors in an arts or educational discipline. The enclosed recommendation forms should be completed and returned to the Student Services office by the instructor or counselor (or the individual should send a short letter of recommendation commenting on the applicants ability and discipline in their arts or educational field). TRANSCRIPTS
During the NWSA application process, official transcripts are not required. We highly recommend that you have your unofficial transcript available in case the division needs to provide class recommendations for your first semester. Upon final acceptance to New World School of the Arts*, final and official transcripts for each school that you attended must be mailed to: Miami Dade College Attention: Transcript Processing Services 11011 S.W. 104th Street, Room R301 Miami, FL 33176 Transfer students who are advised by NWSA to apply directly to University of Florida must send their final and official transcripts to: The UF Office of Admissions P.O. TRANSFER STUDENTS
Transfer students should arrange for their official transcripts to be sent as early as possible for evaluation. Doing so will help to insure timely placement of credits for transfer. Please list all institutions attended.
INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
International students must complete additional steps through the appropriate partner institution (Miami Dade College or University of Florida) in order to obtain the certificate of eligibility (Form I-20). For important deadlines and instructions, please refer to the International Student Application from the appropriate institution. International transfer students who have completed the Associate of Arts degree, must apply to have the I-20 form transferred from their prior US institution to the University of Florida once admission to UF has been confirmed.
FINANCIAL AID AND SCHOLARSHIP
Financial aid is available to all applicants who qualify. Applicants who wish to apply may do so by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) which can be obtained online at fafsa.gov. Applying for financial aid can be a lengthy process and, therefore should begin as early as possible (forms become available October 1st). New World School of the Arts is a public institution and accepts Florida Pre-paid, Bright Futures, and funds awarded from the FAFSA.
